Abby Franklin grew up in Portland, Oregon in an outdoorsy family. “We did lots of camping and hiking,” she says. After graduating with a degree in environmental studies from the University of Oregon in Eugene, her goal was to piece together seasonal outdoor jobs. She spent last winter working in Crested Butte, Colorado. She comes to the BTNF and Forest Corps because “I’ve always heard that Wyoming is beautiful and I had never been here before,” she says. “Cirque of the Towers looks like the most beautiful trail I’ve ever seen.”
While this is Abby’s first trail crew, she’s worked on a conservation crew and done wildfire fuel reduction work. “That was a lot of cutting down and limbing trees,” she says. During college Abby spent two summers working on an organic produce farm. “Planting and growing your own food is so fulfilling,” she says.
